Remember the Nokia Lumia 520? For years it has been the most popular Windows Phone device

The entry level Nokia Lumia 520 has been the most popular Windows Phone model for years. The device was originally unveiled at MWC 2013, and became available in early April of that year.

The unit came with Windows Phone 8 out of the box and was updated to Windows Phone 8.1. Earlier this year, data from cross-promotion network AdDuplex revealed that the Lumia 520 was still the most widely used on the platform with a 12.9% share.

The Lumia 520 features a 4-inch screen with a 480 x 800 resolution. The Snapdragon S4 Plus SoC is under the hood with a dual-core 1GHz CPU and the Adreno 305 GPU. 512MB of RAM is inside along with 8GB of internal storage.

A 64GB capacity microSD slot is available for those seeking additional storage. There is only one camera on the device, and it is a rear-facing 5MP snapper with an f/2.4 aperture, but no flash. A 1430 mAh battery keeps the lights on, and it is a replaceable cell.

The phone was offered in Black, Yellow, Red and White. The original price of the unit pre-tax was equivalent to less than $200 USD. A version for T-Mobile, the Nokia Lumia 521, was also available in April 2013.

The unit supported the carrier's 4G HSPA+ and had the same specs and design as the Lumia 520. In November 2013, AT&T offered the Lumia 520 price off-contract at just $49.99 for the holiday season. That was half of the usual $99.99 price charged for the phone by AT&T's GoPhone pre-paid service.

We gave the Nokia Lumia 520 an 8 on our review, noting the value for money objective that Nokia had in mind. And we must say that Nokia must have done something right considering how popular the handset has been for more than three years. Source: phonearena
