Just yesterday we reported that eBay has decided to drop the support for Windows Phone. eBay isn't the only company to to this — for instance, Amazon and PayPal recently killed their Windows Phone apps, asking users to use their websites. Now GOQii is another company which has decided to drop the Windows Phone development altogether.
For those who aren't familiar with GOQii, it is one of India's leading fitness band company. The company was founded back in 2014 and did a commercial launch of their original fitness band in August 2014. GOQii released a Windows Phone app in around November 2014 and it did supported Windows Phones with regular updates and bug fixes. But now the company confirmed that they won't be able to support the platform further.
The company launched the new GOQii 2.0 a couple of months ago with new features. The new fitness band won't be supporting many features on Windows Phone because of the outdated app. The CEO of GOQii blamed Microsoft for the low market share and told that startups don't have much resources to support a platform which has less than 1% of the market share. Check the tweets from the CEO of GOQii detailing the reasons for not supporting Windows Phone.
So what do our readers think about this. Are companies right dropping support for Windows Phone ecosystem because of the shrinking market share? Let us know your opinions in the comments section below.
