Windows smartphone users have always been last in the line to receive the latest updates for the most third party popular apps like WhatsApp and Instagram. While Android and iPhone users get their hands first on the latest app updates, Windows users always fall behind on them. Nevertheless, WhatsApp for Windows will most likely get a new feature soon as the beta version for WhatsApp on Windows has added a new feature that makes it easier to share multimedia from their devices. The new beta version of WhatsApp for Windows is 2.16.208. Windows users can download the beta version of WhatsApp from the Windows Store as it had recently been made available for download. This eliminated the hassle of getting an invite for becoming a beta tester.

The latest update for WhatsApp beta on Windows is the inclusion of the camera icon, which can be located on the bottom of the Settings bar in the chats window. The inclusion of the camera icon will allow users to directly take photos and videos by clicking on the icon and quickly share with other WhatsApp contacts. Users can also select multiple contacts to send the images and videos. Before this shortcut, users would have to manually open each chat and go to the attach file option wherein they would have to select the preferred image or video to send. WhatsApp users should get the update soon on their Windows smartphones but for those who cannot wait for the official update, can go to Windows Store and download the beta version.

The previous update was the introduction of OneDrive integration for backing up WhatsApp, similar to how Android users back up their WhatsApp data on Google Drive. OneDrive is Microsoft's cloud storage platform where users can upload and save their data like photos and important documents. Before this update, WhatsApp users on Windows smartphone would have their backed up data on the storage of their smartphones. This update will help in clearing up storage space given how WhatsApp chats can be elongated in just a few minutes. To enable this feature, users would have to go to Settings>Chat and Security>Backup.

Talking about WhatsApp updates, the latest one was for iOS users. WhatsApp recently updated its app bucket load of features optimized for iOS 10. For starters, Siri can be used to either send messages to a contact or make a WhatsApp call. iOS 10 users can also make WhatsApp calls directly from the lockscreen. WhatsApp also introduced a new widget that allows users to switch to a recent chat or see which chats have unread messages. The latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android also has two new exciting features, which include selfie flash and Snapchat-like doodles. The selfie flash feature allows users to capture selfies in low light with WhatsApp's built-in camera interface which is a flash icon that can be turned on and off as per requirement. Another feature is that users can draw doodles on photos like Snapchat. Not just doodles, but big emoji icons, stickers and text overlays have been introduced as well.
