MyFitnessPal for Windows Phone pulled due to “not enough demand” and “several issues”

Windows Phone users don't get a ton of love anymore, and that's made clearer every day as app developers pull support from the platform. The most recent app to be removed from Windows Phone is MyFitnessPal, an app that Windows Phone users have been using in order to track calories, maintain health journals, and more. There was no official announcement given to tell users that support for Windows Phone would be discontinued, so you can imagine the frustration of regular users when they could no longer log in.

Some fans of the application emailed MyFitnessPal looking for an explanation, and our friends at Windows Central reported their response:

Please accept our sincerest apologies if you can no longer find the MyFitnessPal Windows phone App or are having issues accessing the app. Unfortunately, due to several issues with the app, and not enough demand of the app from our members, we have decided to no longer offer an app on the Windows Phone platform.

Due to limitations of the Windows Phone store, we are unable to provide ongoing access to the app for existing users. Once a member logs out of the app, access to the app will no longer be available.

For members that may still have access to parts of the app, we are also unable to further support triaging of the app. Your account can still be accessed via your mobile web browser, or computer at our main website www.myfitnesspal com or via the iOS and Android platform.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause you.

There's no word yet on whether or not MyFitnessPal intends to start up once again on Windows 10 Mobile, but given the complaint of "not enough demand of the app" it probably isn't all that likely. Thankfully, people who really want to try out MyFitnessPal can do so using their PC or mobile web browser, and the use of a dedicated app is not all that necessary.
