Microsoft continues work on Windows 10 Mobile despite the fact that Windows Phone no longer seems to be a priority for the company this year, and now a new cumulative update is being tested internally.
According to Microsoft, "This list includes a limited set of Windows Phone 8.1 devices and does not include some devices that are now running Windows 10 Mobile in the Windows 10 Mobile Insider program".
We don't have more details about the Windows 10 Mobile Cumulate Update 10586.212, but without any doubts, this update will be released sometime soon and we will give you more information about it once that will happen.
It was pretty clear that Microsoft just isn't focused on the smartphone platform at the moment, and in case you needed further evidence of that, Windows chief Terry Myerson confirmed it to The Verge.
For the sake of Microsoft's mobile ambitions and fans who have been supporting Windows on smartphones since 2010, we hope the platform won't go the way of the dinosaurs.
Microsoft is now testing another new Windows 10 Mobile cumulative update, after releasing build 10586.164 officially for older Windows Phone handsets handsets.
Myerson also admitted that Windows Phone simply wasn't a channel Microsoft could use to reach a lot of customers (given its tiny market share), and that its largest install base is 9- to 30-inch screens. "If you wanted to do new and exciting things, then the Xbox and HoloLens is the place to have a discussion", Myerson concluded.
"We're going to do some cool things with phones, but this year phones are an important part of our family but not the tip of the spear".
