"Our goal is to only offer the Windows 10 upgrade to devices that we are confident can continue to deliver a good customer experience". We don't know whether the left-out devices will ever get the new update or not.
As the Windows Store has failed to attract developers in droves, Microsoft will nearly certainly be concerned that Edge's browser repository will be similarly ignored.
Also, after July 2018, all critical Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 security updates will be addressed for Skylake systems until extended support ends for Windows 7, January 14, 2020 and Windows 8.1 on January 10, 2023.
According to Tech Times, Microsoft announced that Windows 10 will be a "Recommended Update" beginning 2016. Earlier believed to be the first wave of Windows 10 rollout, Microsoft later confirmed that the company has no plans to bring the new operating system on 512MB RAM devices. Most browsers, including Microsoft's Internet Explorer-branded browsers, have long had support for extensions, which are popularly used to do things like block Internet advertisements. However the company also mentioned that the BLU Win HD W510U, BLU Win HD LTE X150Q, and MCJ Madosma Q501 devices are also eligible for the Windows 10 Mobile update.
Three Edge extensions were announced last week: Microsoft Translator, Mouse Gestures and the Reddit Enhancement Suite.
The latest build features something that the Windows 10 community has been clamoring for for quite a while now, the Microsoft Edge browser extension.
However, Windows Phone 8.1 devices that will not receive Windows 10 Mobile update officially, can be the part of Windows Insider Program and can receive Windows 10 bits, but it will be limited to the Production Ring. This allows third-parties to build additional functionality for the browser, and are considered mandatory by many before adopting the Edge browser. It is evident that users have become accustomed to Chrome's interface and most have chosen it as their default browser on any device they own. "A lot of reactions from our customers...is, 'Can we influence Microsoft and tell them they're not ready to transition and try to get them to prolong support on that?' We've tried, and Microsoft's not really willing to do that". In 2014, Microsoft even promised that the new Windows 10 update will be rolled out to all Windows smartphones after the release.
Back in November of 2014, the Lumia account on Twitter stated that all Windows Phone 8 devices will be upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile. It is the successor to the existent Windows 8.1 which can be found on most Windows phones that are now available in the market.
