Windows Phone 10 Mobile Release Date News: Lumia 950 Update Rollouts Commence With Fresh OS Build [VIDEO]
Microsoft is now pushing the latest Windows 10 Mobile software updates to Lumia 950 and 950 XL device owners, which will bump the handsets up to build number 10586.36. As WMPoweruser reports, feedback from Lumia 950 and 950 XL customers and Windows Insider Program participants alike helped spawn this latest Windows 10 Mobile build.
"This build continues to address feedback we've received from Windows Insiders as well as customers using our brand new Windows 10 phones like the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL," Windows and Devices Group G Vice President, Gabe Aul said.
Microsoft is pushing these over-the-air OS updates to directly to its new flagship phone users with no wireless carrier interference. There was a slight hiccup with the previous software rollout of build 10586.29 to the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, which led to a temporarily delay. This, due to reports that a small number of devices weren't successfully receiving and installing the new software. Microsoft quickly addressed the issue and commenced the rollouts within a week, no biggie.
Windows Phone owners who are sitting on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 and anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Windows 10 Mobile will have to wait until next year. As ZDNet reports, Microsoft said it will now push over-the-air Windows 10 Mobile software updates to devices in 2016. Despite its previous announcement promising to kick off the new software rollout in December, Microsoft is changing its course.
"This November we introduced Windows 10 to phones including brand new features such as Continuum and Universal Windows Apps with the introduction of the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. The Windows 10 Mobile upgrade will begin rolling out early next year to select existing Windows 8 and 8.1 phones," a Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement.
