Microsoft had high hopes from their mobile phone division when they originally began it. However, ever since the acquisition of Nokia Mobiles, the company h has been bleeding out millions of dollars every day. With tens of billions of dollars having gone down the drain in the past several years, and with no returns in sight, the windows phone and windows 10 Mobile division is indeed in a danger.
It has now been rumored and speculated that the company might be shutting down the windows phone and the windows 10 mobile OS divisions. This speculation has arisen from the fact that the investors and the board of directors are quite upset with the company over the fact that the Windows 10 Mobile OS and the Windows Phone devices are just a waste of money.
During the Build 2016 event, Microsoft did not make any announcements about the Windows Phone and the Windows 10 Mobile devices. However, the company later made a statement which made their priorities crystal clear:
"We're going to do some cool things with phones, but this year phones are an important part of our family but not the tip of the spear," a Microsoft spokesperson told The Verge.
