Windows 10 Users Get Facebook, Messenger Apps; Instagram for Windows 10 Mobile

Microsoft is now offering Windows 10 support for universal applications for Facebook, Messenger and Instagram that were announced at Microsoft's Build 2016 conference last month.

Product manager Davis Fields unveiled the three new apps in a Newsroom post, saying that Facebook and Messenger for Windows 10 can be obtained from Thursday in the Windows Desktop App Store, and similarly for Instagram for Windows 10 Mobile in the Windows Phone Store.

Fields added that Windows 10 Phone Facebook and Messenger apps will be launched later this year, and that the Facebook Windows 8 app will be switched with the new offering in the Windows Store, and users can choose to continue using the older app or update to the new one free-of-cost.

Providing details on the new apps, Fields said, "We built the new Windows 10 Facebook app so that it's fast and easy to access your favorite features. Facebook is one click away from the Start Menu, and the app starts and loads yourNews Feed much faster than previous Facebook desktop applications. You can stay up-to-date with Facebook through desktop notifications, and you can pin a new Facebook Live Tile that shows you the latest updates from your friends, family and pages you follow. It's also easy to share photos to Facebook straight from your favorite apps or File Explorer."

"When we first built Instagram for Windows, we were focused on bringing the app's core features to the Windows Phone community as quickly as possible. Today, we're rolling out Instagram for Windows 10 Mobile with all of the community's favorite features, including Instagram Direct, Explore and video," Fields added.
