Windows 10 Mobile Starts Seeding for Selected Windows Phone 8.1 Devices

For those lucky enough to have a Windows Phone 8.1 device compatible for the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade, they will be able to install the OS via WiFi.

The company is also advising users to download the Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor app to check whether the update is available for their device. Along with this, the third party OEMs who will be getting Windows 10 Mobile update include Blu Win HD w510u, Blu Win HD LTE x150q, and MCJ Madosma Q501.

If you have any of the aforementioned Windows Phone handsets and want to upgrade, you will be required to download the Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor app from the Windows Store, and select Enable Windows 10 upgrade.

Citing "a person familiar with the company's plans", VentureBeat reported earlier today that Microsoft will launch Windows 10 Mobile for immediate availability tomorrow.

The Windows 10 Mobile upgrade brings a host of new features and improvements.

All in all, making Windows 10 Mobile available for older devices is a great move, but it is not going to be enough to give the platform the edge it needs to compete with iOS and Android devices.

A developer resources page will open, and you'll then need to click the Download extensions button. Most eligible phones are Lumia devices, including the 640, 640XL, 930 and 1520.
