Microsoft to Release "Get Windows 10" App for Windows Phone Users

Unless you've splashed some cash on either Microsoft's Lumia 950 or Lumia 950 XL, you won't as of yet managed to experience the latest Windows 10 Mobile operating system. The change is part of Microsoft's ongoing work to push Windows 10 upgrades in front of more people to try and get them to move over to the new OS before the offer of a free upgrade expires in July. And which phones can get it?

As of this moment there have been no updates on the pricing details of this phone and it is expected that the Lumia 650 will release as a low budget, entry level phone running the Windows 10 Mobile OS.

The Windows 10 Mobile Upgrade Advisor app will tell you if your Windows 8.1 phone is eligible for upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile.

Blocking GWX Microsoft has published a Knowledge Base article 3080351 with information on how to block the Windows 10 automatic upgrade process. Windows 10, though, is different, in that Microsoft is pushing regular updates to address issues as they are discovered. The company consequently upped the aggression on its upgrade strategy, pushing Windows 10 upgrades to Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 PCs - even if users did not request them. Companies that use Windows Enterprise won't see the "Get Windows 10" nag screen.

Now, this is a biggy. Long story short, this isn't just a story about the OS: The Windows universal app platform had to adapt to support apps that could run on a phone or on a larger attached screen, and be used with touch or keyboard and mouse.

It's pretty much exclusively made up of Lumia devices, and includes all the recent flagships like the Lumia 1520, 1320, 1020 and 925.

Lastly, it's also worth pointing out that the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL also comes with a free Display Dock when purchased unlocked. In either case, Microsoft is opening the door to many a conversation between solution providers and Windows customers. Thanks to the extra breathing room, look and feel is a lot closer to what you'd expect from a desktop app on Windows 10. The update will also add support for improved navigation, in-line video playback to improve the over-all video experience of the app.

Well, any not on the list above have a very good chance of getting left out in the cold.

Unlike using the Windows Insider app, UpdateAdvisor won't bypass your carrier to get the latest Windows 10 Upgrade.
