Windows 10 Mobile Release Date Confirmed For November

As Microsoft prepares for the release of the mobile version of the Windows 10 OS, a fresh report from Africa points to the release date.

A Microsoft's Windows and Surface business group executive from South Africa named Anthony Doherty told tech site iAfrica that the final Windows 10 Mobile OS build could be released during the "November timeframe."

When asked about the recent job cuts in Microsoft, Phone Arena reports, he said, "Obviously, there's some duplication in engineering, sales and marketing, but it doesn't change our strategy around mobility. Windows 10 Mobile is coming and it's coming strong."

Questioned about the reason for Microsoft to create apps for Android and iOS platforms, instead of concentrating on the Windows Phone, Doherty said the tech giant is not giving up on Windows Phone. However, he acknowledged that the Windows 10 Mobile OS is not a full and final product and therefore, the platform is not code-complete yet. He added that the company wants all smartphone users to get access to their favorite apps and toolsets, irrespective of the ecosystem they are in. He also acknowledged that, it is the company's strategy from the start to cover the entire spectrum of platforms.

The Windows 10 for desktop/laptop/PC has now been made available for everyone, and Doherty has revealed the pricing details pertaining to the U.S. market. Needless to say, Windows 10 is entirely free for users upgrading from Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. For the rest, the prices of the Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Pro Pack (specific to the ones upgrading from Windows Home to Pro) are $119, $199 and $99, respectively, notes iAfrica.
